Property investors looking for real estate in Spain located in a crime-free zone should consider Ibiza.
The gated community of Vista Alegre on the south coast hasn’t had one burglary for five years, serving to push up demand for these exclusive properties.
Last year alone, Sotheby’s International Realty reported nine sales, with wealthy buyers clamouring for these multi-million pound homes.
Daniel Chavarria Waschke, managing director of Balearics Sotheby’s International Realty, stated: “Whether the threat of burglary is real or perceived, affluent house hunters place great importance on security.”
Local developer Fernando Corominas, president of the Vista Alegre since 2007, has been instrumental in implementing safety measures in the community, which have also improved the privacy on offer to residents.
Vista Alegre was established in 1968 but has “stepped up a gear” since 2000, boasting a total of 210 plots. Some 130 have already been built and 18 new villas are currently under construction.
